How do you get the cold start disabled?
Bootmod3! It’s a life saver
How is the drone on the EL?
There is very little drone, the only time I notice a slight hint of drone is around 3000-3500 rpm's. If you're in a high gear and on the highway at around 70-75 mph, there is no drone.
On this fitment the car can easy still crazy drift ? Because i think that 11 inches in the rear is too much. Please i need your opinion to decide what wheels size should i go. Thank you.
Looks like coatesville, 202 area
Yup you’d be right lol! Small world isn’t it
Very! I live in coatesville, and my friend started a BMW shop. Just got an M4 the other day as well, you got Ig?
@@wardevil3000 Wow I'm by Thorndale! Sweet man congratulations! I saw a black M4 on route 30 my way home yesterday while in my daily Miata, any chance that was you lol? IG is Fung_Vince
with the el midpipe what dp should i use? also is there any way i could try and increase the turbo spool sound a bit? thanks
I would recommend a high flow cat downpipe with the EL. The best way to really hear the spool is to go with a catless downpipe, however with the EL I do not recommend it as there is a very buzzy rasp around 2500rpm’s, especially on DCT cars as it’ll hold around that rpm when driving casually. If you really want to maximize the spool sound without a lot of rasp, go with the single midpipe and catless downpipes. Just my two cents
got it thanks so much for your response, and i have a 6mt just like yours! what setup are you running rn ? and is the turbo still decently loud with the el and high flow dp? thanks
@@josha8086 Of course! Currently I'm running the EL with a turner motorsports muffler. As for the turbo spool sound, It's definitely a lot quieter than the catless DP/single mid pipe set-up, but it is still audible. I remember seeing a few videos with a high flow catted dp & EL on both RUclips and the Facebook group for F8X
Each has their own strongpoints; love the turbo spool of the single but loooove the tone and rasp delete of the equal. Definitely the best comparison video I've seen
I 100% agree and you can’t go wrong with either, thanks so much for the feedback!
what size rims ? 👀
Hi Don, for the TE37’s, they are 19”!
Do not buy tail lights from VLAND. The tail lights will get broken as they are NOT moisture resistant. Vland customer service will not take responsibility and they will lie and try to get rid of you.
What's the full exhaust setup?
Strictly just the midpipes for the exhaust. Nothing else
Shoutout to you for taking the time to do a very good comparison video. I like the custom plate too 😄💪🏾
Thanks so much Kenny! Of course, figured many other people had the same dilemma!!
I would like to say thank you for doing this; currently trying to decide between the same.. gratefully you have allowed me to listen to both without spending and regretting. EL seems to be my choice after hearing the comparison.
I heard single mids better with catless and highflow better with equal length and thst catless with equal don’t sound as good
Yup I would have to agree. The equal length with catless DP's are even more raspy low end.
Hey I only plugged mine in to test as didn’t have enough time after work but when I unlocked the car it didn’t do the cool light up glow in a lime? Does it have to be all connected to do this? Thanks great video
Thanks Ben! Did you make sure your headlight switch was on the “auto” mode? Also I found that after unlocking the car to watch the sequence multiple times eventually timed the sequence out and no longer did it UNTIL I locked the vehicle again. So I would make sure 1) the headlight switch is on auto 2) you lock the car prior to unlocking if you have recently unlocked the car multiple times. Let me know if that worked!
@@VinceFungman thanks for the reply I will fit them this weekend and let you know! Thanks man
Hey Are they some clips that we need to cut off on the oleds?
From what I remember, I believe there is a stem that you can shave in order to allow for better fitment. Check out the link I pinned in the comments from the forums. There is some helpful information if what needs to be trimmed to improve the fitment of the tail lights.
THEE BEST install tutorial for these on the internet by far.
Thanks so much man! I’m glad it’s helped so many people
did you disable ASD after the midpipe install? I’m curious how that would affect the sound with windows up and single midpipe installed
Yup! I actually disabled it the second I got the car while it was still stock lol I did not enjoy the sound at all. It will definitely allow you to focus more on the exhaust/intake rather than the pumped in noises. In that case, my clips are filmed with the ASD disabled.
This was a great video. Im putting these on my 435i tomorrow. Can't wait to see how they look.
Thanks so much! Let me know if you have any questions and i'll try my best to help
@@VinceFung with the f33 it's so difficult to get the the inside tail light wire for the blinker to connect and look neat with the convertible. Other than that I got it installed and it looks great
@@SportGuyDMV I'm glad you got it installed at least! I wrapped all of the contact points of the cable with additional electrical wire just in case. Not sure how much that helps but it was a quick 2 minute ordeal lol.
Great video! My F83 is AA equal + Dinan muffler. I'm on the fence to upgrade to CTS high flow cat downpipe 🤔
Thanks so much! I was looking for the Dinan muffler too but wasn't patient enough and found a turner motorsport muffler locally. High flow cat should sound decent! I've heard otherwise though for EL + catless DP's lol
@@VinceFungmy EL is non-resonated so I won't go with catless DP😅
I have a Dinan muffler and debating EL .. now confused if to get resonated /non resonated. Did you get the CTS DP ? How was it on sound? I’m planning on leaving mine stock.. thank you.
the m4 is one of the prettiest cars of all time
Agreed!!
Great video
Thanks my man! Pretty sure I see you posting on the FB group sometimes lol beautiful M4!
Omg that equal length really made it sound classic straight 6 w a hint of turbo spool! 🙌🏼🙏🏼 Sounds amazing! Both set ups actually sound really good but I'd I had to choose for personal preference I'd go w equal length! I'm all for raspy too so even to try the single would be an honor! Beautiful car can't wait to pick on up my self!
I think you can’t go wrong with either. They both sound amazing in their own ways: the single midpipe has much more noticeable turbo spool, but with the equal length it just sings up top. Thanks for the kind words. Best of luck
@@VinceFung of course brother!! I love that white too. White is such a clean color. You can color match any wheels and there's a lot of room to work w for other coloring combos. I'm in a 2018 m550 right now and working on my n54 335 sedan and a 2014 m6 I'm in the process of rebuilding the motor and getting it track ready. They just don't hold the reliability that the M3 and m4 hold tho hence my reason for really wanting the M3 or m4. I feel like I'll get more beneficial track time w them and keep the other cars for show and just to drive! Can't wait to see more of ur build! God bless you brother!
Might be a stupid question but why put the ballasts where you did rather than between the 2 skins of the body work?
Honestly I don’t remember, but it may have been due to clearance issues. I know I would have tried to put it in there if I saw it haha. Sorry it’s been a while since installing them so I can’t tell you exactly why
@VinceFung thanks for replying, how are they performing still?
@@stuartc1986 Of course! They are still working great and I have daily driven my car through all elements, 60 mile round trip to and from work. No condensation or any type of degradation. The start up/unlock sequence is still very cool to me to watch after all this time lol!
How are these still holding up?
Great so far! I haven’t had any issues with them yet since installing them. No condensation or anything either. One thing I really appreciate about them is that the reverse light is a lot brighter than the stock one and helps at night sometimes lol.
@@VinceFung that's good to hear, I'm thinking about getting some for my 430D as one of my originals has completely broke, do you recommend getting these then over the original GTS ones? So much cheaper
@@Vqrdict I personally can't justify spending $4-$5k+ on just tail lights, especially if god forbid someone were to rear end me and the insurance refuses to cover the cost of the original GTS tail lights since it did not come originally equipped with them (Only the GTS/CS will). To play devil's advocate though, one can say that about any aftermarket part.
@@VinceFung I think they look insane for $400 so I think I'm just going to get them, either way they are still so much nicer than the original M4 ones so it's a win win
@@Vqrdict I agree for sure. Much better than the stock pre-LCI’s in my opinion. One of my biggest gripes with the stock pre-LCI’s was the halogen brake lights and turn signals. I thought it made it look pretty outdated
Hi, any updates on the system? Do they require a tune? Thanks
So far no problems and still sounds great! I would definitely recommend a tune with any intake to get the most out of it, however some companies might say that a tune isn’t required to run them.
Hey there, great vid. Was looking at these for my m2. Was wondering. How well does this seal against the hood? Like does the rubber trim actually touch? I was thinking about getting dry filter version.
The rubber trim does touch the hood but it’s hard for me to tell if it’s a complete seal as the M4 hood has little channels and grooves in the area that the intake box seals in. Needless to say, the carbon construction also helps with the heat vs. the typical aluminum intake piping. If you’re looking for full heat soak protection, I believe they make a closed box intake. I went this route though because I did want to still be able to hear the noises haha. From what I’ve seen, the closed box is nearly minimal in terms of noise.
Yea I really like the open design. Also helps with filter maintenance. Can access filters without taking the carbon brace out
@@clayhammer3904 For sure. I thought about doing front mounts at one point but filter maintenance would have been slightly more annoying lol
Your videos carrying the f8x community. Covering all the essential mods 🤝🏼
Thank you so much Andy. I really appreciate it and needed this. I’ve been slacking on the posting and have footage I haven’t edited yet for a video.. this helps motivate me by a ton!!
19 is where it's at on f82s. 18 isn't enough 20 is too much.
What’s that noise at 1:56
Sorry for the late response. That was the MDM kicking in. Basically traction control not allowing any slip and will cut your power/fuel. A lot of people have this same question!
Is anyone having an issue with the pre Lci m4 where the retention bracket doesn’t fit ?
What’s the difference between this AA single mid pipe and the VRSF single mid pipe ? 🙂
Honestly not quite sure, but from what I’ve seen they sound very similar. Besides originality, I can only think of a slight difference in design and differences in clearances.
@@VinceFung btw stock muffler ?
@@M3F80BMWS55 Yup! Stock muffler! Any other questions feel free to let me know.
Looked at them for my f11.. Not the most glamorous of beemers, but hey I've got kids.. They are dare I say it, a improvement over the OEM lights. And I'm a bit of a keep things original type of guy. Great video Vinny lad, cheers from England.🤘
I find myself the same way over the time of ownership in regards to keeping things original. I had put carbon covers on the front bumper around the "U"'s and the upper fang and ran them for the past several years (My videos and youtube background picture show this), but I recently found myself enjoying the look of the original bumper more vs. the carbon look. I feel like the carbon hides the nice body lines of the front stock bumper. Thanks so much Anthony! Awesome to see people from England watching. I would love to own a F11 - the ultimate daily right there!!
@@VinceFung the ultimate daily, it's literally the reason I bought it. I have been looking and I don't think vland make the rear lights for the f11 ☹️ A little disappointed because they are absolutely superb. Thanks for the reply bro, keep up the good work.. 🤘
Hey Sir! This is Cherry from Coverado selling car accessories. Nice to meet you! We are now looking for some partners to try our seat covers, car covers or wireless carplay adapter. Are you interested in collaborating with us?😊
Dope video thank you. What made you go for non-resonated versions? Thanks
Thank you! I choose to go with non resonated as I plan on keeping stock downpipes.
@@VinceFungdo u think single or equal mp is louder when paired with catless dp?
I would think the single would be louder with a catless DP due to the more direct flowing design vs. the equal length "zig zag". If you're going catless DP, I would definitely go with the single and avoid the EL as it tends to be really raspy below 2k rpms, with the DCT exaggerating tis even more. @@user-mq5jd5wy6p
Single sounds crazy and probably will be my choice. Any recommendations on the DP?
It definitely sounds mean! If I were to stick with single, I’d honestly probably go with ARM or something similar in that price range but I would definitely go catless downpipes with the single midpipe. As for the equal lengths midpipes, high flow catted downpipes are the way to go as it welcomes a putrid rasp on the low end.
Hey bro what crackle/pop tune are u running? It sounds more aggressive than GTS burbles
I might have had it at a higher aggression at around 7 but I sort of got annoyed with it after a while hahaha.
@@VinceFung Damn that was only 7? I cant imagine 12
@@erictran2286 Yup lol! It could be the microphone accentuating the burbles. 12 would probably be for someone looking for straight up gun shots/flames LOL.
@@VinceFung yea your 7 burbles sound really good I'm gonna copy the set up!!!
Which one you think is best if catless downpipes may be added in the future?
Single for sure. A catless downpipe with the EL will sound very raspy from what I’ve heard, especially down low. I would personally go with the single in this situation but some may enjoy the EL + catless DP more
@@VinceFung thanks! That’s what I was hoping for
do you have downpipes or is this stock cats?
Nothing else done except for the Mid pipe. Stock downpipes, stock rear non ZCP muffler
What would you recommend with a REMUS cat back exhaust? I can’t decide /:
Do you mean with a Remus muffler? Honestly prior to going AA EL, I was very set on the Remus muffler with the AA Single mid pipe.
Thank you Vince!
That single midpipe just hits different for me. Thanks for the vid! 🔥
Awesome! It sounds amazing especially down low. Glad you enjoyed!
1:24 ... we were all there at some point heh. I currently have mine set to 3200 RPM minimum and 0.6s duration, going to turn them down even more with my next setup. Even stock turbos howl like a banshee through the single midpipe! I'm about to swap mine out for a resonated EL... after the car makes a quick pit stop to have the factory cats reinstalled so it can pass emissions. After doing that dance it will be Eisenmann catless DPs > Active EL resonated mid > MPE. After living with catless/Active single mid/MPE for several years, IMO it's just too loud and flabby sounding. I leave the valves closed probably 95% of the time now. If it's not brought into check by swapping in the EL resonated midpipe, I'll probably bite the (big) bullet and throw some Active GESI catted downpipes on it. Going to rejigger the tune too so it's more "backfire" than burbles. Upping the minimum RPM to 5500 and setting duration to 0.2s. That way, it should give just one loud bang when you're really giving it the beans, and you can actually drive around with the valves open and not draw too much attention of the "unwanted" variety.
@@blendtecbrah5761so in ur opinion , full straight piped single is louder than full straight piped equal length?
@@user-mq5jd5wy6p I had the resonated EL mid installed this week and IMO it's a little bit quieter than the single mid, likely due to the resonator.
Hey, does the opening of the intake connect with the front plumbing behind the grill like oem, or does it just sit there?? 🤔
Hi Ev, the intake does have a hole to connect to the front grill ducting to provide some direct airflow. If you have any other questions, let me know!!
Im in the market for intakes and just stumbled on your video doing some searching around, i think i might have found the ones I’ve been looking for haha cars look good too bro 👍
Thank you so much Dorian! I appreciate the kind words. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll try my best to help out. Best of luck!
car with single midpipe sounds like a 4 banger lmao
Im also running the AA EL non res with catless downpipe and M Performance muffler. Which muffler do you have, i feel as if you’re car sounds a bit different than mine
Stock muffler! The M performance muffler might make the tone a little bit higher with it being titanium but without a doubt sounds great.
New to the channel, I bought a pair of these tail lights and noticed I was missing that black bracket for the inner lights. Do you think the oem bracket will work fine or do I need that new one?
Hi Shaun, you should be able to use the OEM bracket (I would actually recommend this as it’s a bit stronger as well). Best of luck and let me know if you have any other questions!
Hello Vince, I was wondering who's side skirts are you running?
Hi Phillip! I am running the Turner motorsports side skirts. I’ve attached a link to this side skirt: www.turnermotorsport.com/p-578336-turner-motorsport-side-skirts/?pdk=AgM Any questions, just let me know :)!
@@VinceFung Thanks
Is EL at 2k and under raspy or have rattle.
I have noticed a little rasp below 2k for a quick second but I believe the notorious rattle below 2k rpm is wastegate related, unless there was installation error on the midpipe.
Single
What do you think about those being swayed to go back to single for a fuller sound recently? I went to single and like it but now going try the new Valvetronic EL.
Honestly I do miss the spool of the single mid pipe but the top end is where the EL really shines for me. Low end though, Single definitely sounds better IMO.
@@VinceFung yup, the engine revs much better, or alteast sounds better with the equal length. Your set-up definetely matters as well bc being catless can make it sound awful without resonators. Catted (oem and high flow) sound the best without resonators.
@@VinceFung how about single with catless downpipes on the top end compared to EL with OEM downpipes
What intake do you got?
For the clips with the single mid pipe, I ran the BMS Intakes. However with the EL mid pipe, I ran the AFE Carbon Intakes with the box as I faced severe heat soak with the BMS intakes.
The equal length absolutely sings like a beautiful inline 6
It’s glorious especially up high in the rpm range
Makes it look like a whole different car imho
I totally agree
